Jim Weaver 2018 Mission Service Award

Sarah Horton

God called Jim Weaver into the mission field, literally. Jim’s eyes were opened to how the fields and rural farmlands of America reflect the same spiritual needs of the inner-cities. Wide-spread substance abuse, broken families, unemployment, neglect and poverty describe a population in desperate need of the hope of Jesus Christ.

Drawing upon his 30 years of foreign and domestic mission experience, Jim founded Rural America Ministries to intersect millennial Christians and their desire for social justice and genuine Christian community with the burgeoning spiritual needs of the rural mission field. We were pleased to recognize Jim with the Mission Service Award for his dedication to an underserved rural population. You can learn more about this ministry at RAMinistries.com.

Jim met his wife, Ashley (Harrell 85) at OC. The couple traveled west for Jim to pursue his Masters in English Literature at Pepperdine while Ashley earned her BS in Psychology and later a MS in Counseling from Southern Nazarene University. They have five children: Jacob (10) who is married to Hailey (Waugh 10), daughter Micah (11) who is married to Forrest Faulconer, Joseph, Elijah (17) who is married to Kayce (Jones 15) and Seth. They are the proud grandparents of Silas, Everly, and Olive Weaver, children of Jacob and Hailey.
