Language and Literature Visiting Instructor

The Department of Language and Literature at OC invites applications for a one-year Visiting Instructor position with teaching assignments in Rhetoric and Composition beginning in August of 2013. Candidates must have an M.A. in English and preference is for those with work toward completion of the Ph.D.  Likely teaching duties include up to a 4/4 load in CORE composition courses [Developmental, Comp I, Comp II]. The one-year appointment is renewable.  The ideal candidate would use the position to develop teaching experience during completion of the terminal degree. 

Academic rank for these open positions will be negotiable based on education and experience according to University policy, which requires all full-time faculty to be active members of church of Christ and all faculty (Visiting, adjunct, etc.) to be committed to Christ-infused curriculum, co-curriculum, lifestyle and community.  A doctoral degree or ABD is preferred for all faculty ranks, with advanced ranks available for those who also bring demonstrated teaching excellence, publication, or professional leadership.  Positions are full-time, ten-month posts.  Applications will be accepted until filled, with review beginning immediately.

•   A curriculum vita;

•   A statement of teaching philosophy and discussion of the University’s mission;

•   A list of at least three academic/professional references and one reference from a local church leader - with telephone and email contact information;

•   A copy of all academic transcripts (an official copy must be submitted prior to formal employment); and

•   A statement of longer-term plans, including research interests
