Many families choose a combination of all the options below to pay for costs that scholarships, grants and student loans do not cover. For example, parents may make a down payment and cover the remainder of the balance through a PLUS loan and the Tuition Payment Plan.
Electronic Check, Credit Card, or Check
Parents/students may pay all or a portion of the remaining balance with cash through an Electronic Check transfer of funds. Parents/students may also pay using a credit card. (A 2.75% convenience fee will be assessed for all credit card transactions.) The university accepts four major credit cards: Visa, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express. Students should be prepared to make payment for tuition, room, and meal plan by the first day of class each semester. Paper checks should be made payable to Oklahoma Christian.
Installment Payment Plan
This monthly payment plan is available through the student's online account at http://my.oc.edu. There is an annual contract fee of $50. No finance charges are assessed to the student's account as long as the contract payments are made on time each month. Semester costs may be paid in 4 or 5 months depending on the enrollment date. For a fall semester 5 month payment plan, the student or parent must enroll by July 25th. (Students who successfully complete their fall payment plan will be automatically enrolled in a 5 month spring semester payment plan unless the Student Financial Services Office is otherwise notified.) Students can access their student account by clicking on "Student Account Online," located on MyOC under Quicklinks. Students also may grant their parent(s) access by assigning a Parent PIN from their Student Account Online.
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
The PLUS loan is available to the parents of a dependent student. PLUS loans borrowed during the 2014-15 academic year have a 7.21% fixed interest rate for the life of the loan. (The interest rate is reset each year and is held constant for the life of the loan. The interest rate is determined at a specific time each year based on the rate of the 10-year Treasury Bill plus 4.60%.)
Parents have two repayment options:
- Begin repayments 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed. The minimum payment is $50 per month.
- Payments may also be deferred until the student has completed college or is enrolled in less than half time hours.
- The typical repayment term is 10 years.
This loan is based on credit worthiness. The student must complete the FAFSA. Click here for more information.
Alternative Student Loans
There are various non-federal student loans available through private lenders. Most freshmen and students with no credit history require a co-signer. Click here for more information.
Students who work just 20 hours per week during the summer should be able to earn enough pay for their books or apply some money toward their account.
