ODESSA, Texas (April 7, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian outhit Texas-Permian Basin 9-8 but the Lady Eagles stranded 12 baserunners, allowing UTPB to win 6-1 on Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game Heartland Conference softball series.

OC (17-16) left the bases loaded in the third, fourth and fifth innings against the Falcons, allowing UTPB starter Desiree Valero (6-13) to pitch her second complete game in as many days.

The Lady Eagles scored their only run in the third. Bunt singles by Sarah Peoples and Lauren Chatigny and an infield single by Monique Elliott loaded the bases before Kendra Pierce drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 1-1. Martha Thomas struck out and Courtney Starr fouled out to end the inning.

UTPB (10-28) went ahead for good in the bottom of the third, scoring twice, one of those on a home run by Taleas Marble off OC starter Taylor Mosher (6-4).

With the bases loaded with two outs in the fourth, Elliott lined out to the shortstop. In the fifth, Pierce was thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple to start the inning, but the Lady Eagles still loaded the bases with two outs. Pinch-hitter Danielle Collins struck out to end the inning.

Chatigny and Elliott had a pair of hits each to lead OC’s offense.

OC is scheduled to play a doubleheader at archrival Southern Nazarene on Tuesday in Bethany.
