OKLAHOMA CITY (June 10, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian sluggers Martha Thomas and Kendra Pierce both ranked high in several categories on the final National Christian College Athletic Association softball statistical list for the 2013 season.
Pierce, a sophomore shortstop from Oklahoma City, ranked in the top 25 nationally in five offensive categories. She was second in RBIs per game at 1.29 (with 54 in 42 games) and second in doubles per game (0.52, with 22). Pierce also was 10th in hits per game (1.45, with 61), 17th in slugging percentage (.685) and 25th in hitting (.418).
Thomas, a junior first baseman from North Richland Hills, Texas, finished with national rankings in four categories, including slugging percentage, in which she was fourth at .764.
She was 12th in walks per game (0.57, with 25 in 44 games), tied for 14th in home runs per game (0.23, with 10) and 24th in on-base percentage (.480).
In the team categories, OC ranked seventh in doubles per game (1.72) and RBIs per game (5.18), eighth in runs per game (5.73) and 10th in hits per game (8.30).
The Lady Eagles finished 22-22, falling in the NCCAA Central Region tournament title game to Central Baptist (Ark.).
