PIEDMONT, Okla. (April 22, 2014) – Cameron Peters, who helped lead Piedmont High School to the Class 5A quarterfinals as a senior, has signed a letter of intent to play men’s basketball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Dan Hays said Tuesday.
Peters, a 6-foot-4 wing player, averaged 15.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from 3-point range for Piedmont this past season.
“We are looking forward to having Cameron as an Eagle,” Hays said. “He is a versatile, multi-position player who can shoot the three and play inside with his back to the basket. He was a big reason coach Ryan Wagner’s Piedmont Wildcats were in the state tournament two of the last three years.”
Peters earned a slew of honors the past three seasons at Piedmont. As a sophomore, he received honorable mention on The Oklahoman’s Little All-City team after averaging 14.0 points per game. As a junior, he was a preseason and postseason Class 5A All-State selection by the newspaper and made its second-team Big All-City honor squad after averaging 18.8 points per game. He also was named as the Suburban Conference player of the year.
This past season, he against was preseason Class 5A All-State pick by The Oklahoman and received honorable mention on the postseason Class 5A All-State and Big All-City squads.
OC is in the second year of the three-year NCAA Division II membership process and is a full member of the Heartland Conference. The Eagles went 10-17 last season.
