PORTLAND, Ore. (Feb. 12, 2014) – Sisay Gillock, a two-time Oregon state track and field champion for Portland Christian High School, has signed a letter of intent to run cross country for Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Wade Miller said Wednesday.
As a junior, Gillock won the Oregon Class 2A state title in both the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters. This fall as a senior, he was third in the Class 2A state cross country race, finishing with a time of 16:20 in the 5,000-meter race.
His career-best times are 8:56.4 in the 3,000 meters, 4:10.1 in the 1,500, 4:127.38 in the mile and 15:55 in the 5,000 meters.
“Sisay will bring another layer of depth to our team and add a component of strength to our long distance group on the track,” Miller said. “I’m thrilled to plug him into the group that we will have next year and see what they can accomplish.”
Gillock is the second runner to sign with the Eagles during the current NCAA signing period, joining Evan McQuirk of Val Alstyne, Texas.
