Oklahoma Christian University will stage “The Tragedy of Tragedies, or the Life and Death of Tom Thumb the Great,” a farce by Henry Fielding, Feb. 19-20 and 26-27. The play will begin at 8 p.m. in Judd Theatre on the OC campus.
Fielding’s play remains one of the most lauded satires in English comedy. It focuses on the clichés of epic heroism, using Tom, a knight of very low status and height, as its principal agent. Through a series of mismatched marriages, Tom finds himself in a King Arthur court rivalry that only wits, courage and ribald humor can overcome. Suitable for ages 12 and up. For tickets, call the box office at 425-5540. Communication professor Barrett Huddleston directs the play.
