OC women’s golf adds Edmond North’s Sell, 6A medalist
EDMOND, Okla. (Nov. 14, 2012) – One of Oklahoma’s top high school golfers will continue her career at Oklahoma Christian.
Allison Sell of Edmond North High School, who earned Class 6A medalist honors this past spring, signed a letter of intent with the Lady Eagles on Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA signing period. OC is in the first year of the NCAA Division II membership process.
Sell will join a two-year-old women’s golf program that already has enjoyed much success. This fall, the Lady Eagles finished second at the National Christian College Athletic Association Invitational in Panama City Beach, Fla., the best national finish ever by any OC women’s team in any sport.
“Allison is a good student with a great work ethic,” OC coach Greg Lynn said. “She has an outstanding junior golf record and she comes from a wonderful family that gives her great support. I expect Allison to contribute to the OC golf program and represent the university in a very positive way.”
In May, Sell became the first player in Edmond North history to win an individual state title, winning by two shots in the 6A tournament at Muskogee Country Club.
Sell posted a 76.6 stroke average during her junior season and was named to The Oklahoman’s All-City first-team girls golf team, while the Edmond Sun named her as its girls player of the year.
As a sophomore, Sell finished fifth at the 6A state tournament.
