OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 3, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian’s women’s and men’s track and field teams will compete in 15 meets during the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons, coach Randy Heath said Monday.
Of those meets, seven will be indoor and eight will be outdoor. Both the indoor and outdoor seasons will culminate with National Christian College Athletic Association championship meets. The NCCAA Indoor Championships will be Feb. 15-16 in Marion, Ind., while the NCCAA Outdoor Championships are set for May 2-4 in Joliet, Ill.
Three of OC’s indoor meets will be in Joplin, Mo., and will be hosted by Missouri Southern. The Eagles and Lady Eagles will open the indoor season this Saturday in Joplin and will return there for meets on Jan. 11-12 and Feb. 1-2.
In addition to the Missouri Southern meets, OC’s teams will compete during the indoor season in the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock on Jan. 18-19, the Central Oklahoma Indoor Invitational at the University of Oklahoma’s indoor facility in Norman on Jan. 26 and the Oklahoma Baptist Indoor Invitational, also at the OU facility, on Feb. 9.
After the NCCAA Indoor Championships, the teams will have about a month off before opening the outdoor season March 14 at the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield, Kan. On March 30, OC’s teams will compete in the Oklahoma Baptist Open in Shawnee.
The Lady Eagles and Eagles will travel to Kansas for their next two meets – the Emporia State Relays in Emporia on April 6 and the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg on April 13.
The remaining regular-season outdoor meets for OC will be the Heartland/McMurry Invitational in Abilene, Texas, on April 19-20; the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, from April 25-27; and the Southwestern Relays in Winfield, Kan., on April 27.
As in previous years, OC student-athletes also might compete individually in meets as opportunity arises, Heath said, in addition to the regular schedule.
