GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 24, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian’s softball team has earned Scholar Team status from the National Christian College Athletic Association.

The NCCAA announced its honor list on Monday. To qualify for the honor, team members had to post a combined grade-point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale. The Lady Eagles had a team GPA of 3.43.

Members of OC’s softball team this spring included Kendra Pierce, Krystal Rodriguez, Monique Elliott, Taylor Mosher, Courtney Starr, Lauren Pittman, Danielle Collins, Sarah Peoples, Krista Martony, Lindsy Moore, Lauren Chatigny, Michelle Miller, Kala Ratliff and Martha Thomas. Elliott, Miller, Moore and Peoples each posted a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.

The Lady Eagles finished 22-22 and reached the NCCAA Central Region title game.

Only 48 teams nationally from the winter and spring sports seasons qualified for the NCCAA honor. Seven of those were softball teams and OC ranked fifth among that group.

Besides the softball team, OC’s men’s tennis team also received NCCAA Scholar Team status with a 3.45 GPA. OC’s women’s cross country team previously received Scholar Team status after its fall season, posting a 3.53 GPA.
