OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 2, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian softball signees and Edmond North High School teammates Madison Nordyke and Sheridan Bond have been honored by The Oklahoman with selection to the newspaper’s annual Big All-City teams.
Nordyke, a pitcher and infielder, was named to the first-team list for the second straight season, while Bond, an infielder, received second-team honors this year after making the first-team list last season. The duo helped North reach this season’s Class 6A state tournament after the Huskies won the 2012 state title.
The Big All-City squads consist of players from Classes 5A and 6A, the two highest classifications in Oklahoma high school athletics.
Nordyke earned All-State honors this fall and was named as the co-Most Valuable Player in District 6A-1. She went 19-5 with a 2.12 ERA and 128 strikeouts as a pitcher while recording seven doubles, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored as a hitter. She set school records for career wins (70) and doubles (36).
Bond hit .444 and stole 30 bases as a senior and set North career records for triples (20) and stolen bases (103). She also earned All-State honors.
