OKLAHOMA CITY (March 5, 2014) – The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles will have at least one more home game this basketball season – and maybe more.

On Wednesday, OC learned it will host the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region tournament on March 13-15, giving the Lady Eagles a chance to defend their region title on their home court at the Eagles’ Nest.

The women’s regional was scheduled to be hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville. But OWU received a NAIA Division II tournament bid on Wednesday, and with the NAIA tournament also set to be played next week, OWU wanted to find another willing host for the NCCAA event.

OC already was hosting the NCCAA Central Region men’s tournament next week and volunteered to take over the women’s event as well.

The Lady Eagles (15-11) will be the top seed in their tournament, which figures to draw five or six entrants. Other teams definitely in the field will be Mid-America Christian, Colorado Christian, Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) and Southwestern Christian, with Crowley’s Ridge (Ark.) still a possibility.

Pairings for the tournament will be announced when the fields have firmed up. The regional champion will advance to the NCCAA Championship, set for March 19-22 in Winona Lake, Ind.
