HAVEN, Kan. (May 5, 2013) – Miranda Ostlund, a standout thrower for Haven High School in south-central Kansas, has signed a letter of intent to compete in women’s track and field for Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Randy Heath said Sunday.
Ostlund, from Mount Hope, Kan., is the younger sister of OC sophomore thrower Katie Ostlund, who already has developed into one of the nation’s top javelin throwers in the small-college ranks, having won the National Christian College Athletic Association title in the event on Friday in Joliet, Ill.
Miranda Ostlund will compete for OC in the shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throws, Heath said.
“She’s already an outstanding thrower in the discus and javelin and her shot has improved greatly, so she should be able to do well her freshman year,” Heath said. “We have high expectations for her coming in as a freshman.”
During the current outdoor season, Miranda Ostlund’s top marks are 108 feet, 1 inch in the javelin, 37 feet, 9¾ inches in the shot put and 117 feet, 2 inches in the discus.
