Middle hired as assistant basketball coach at prep alma mater
ARGYLE, Texas (June 21, 2013) – Former Oklahoma Christian women’s basketball player Madison Middle isn’t quite through with the sport yet.
Middle, who graduated from OC in April, has been hired as an assistant girls coach at her high school alma mater, Liberty Christian School. Middle also will teach a freshman biology class and serve as the head junior varsity coach at Liberty Christian.
She played on Liberty Christian teams in 2007 and 2008 that won Texas private-school Class 5A state titles. Her head coach on those teams, Ken Burroughs, now will be her boss. The varsity team’s other assistant coach is former Lubbock Christian (Texas) player Ashley Jordan.
“I’m really excited that I get to coach with both of them and still be a part of a team,” Middle said. “I’m also really glad that I get the opportunity to teach.”
Middle was part of the OC program for five seasons, starting with the 2008-09 campaign. As a senior last season, Middle played in 27 games, averaging 2.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 9.2 minutes. She scored a career-high 11 points in a late-season win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
