LUBBOCK, Texas (Jan. 18, 2013) – David McWilliams keyed a 1-2 Oklahoma Christian finish in the 5,000 meters and Tracy Marshall won a long jump event for the second straight meet on Friday in the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open.

In their heat in the 5,000, McWilliams and teammate Bryant Keirns pulled away from the rest of the runners. McWilliams finished in 15:25.15, followed by Keirns in 15:39.73. The next runner was more than 3½ seconds behind Keirns.

OC’s Trent Stephens (12th in 16:28.57) gave the Eagles three runners in the top half of the 25-man field in the 5,000. Stephens finished fifth in his heat.

Marshall continued his early season dominance, winning in a field of 29 jumpers with a mark of 22 feet, 10½ inches (6.97 meters).

It matched his personal-best mark in the indoor long jump – set last week at Missouri Southern – and also matched the seventh-best all-time mark in the event by a competitor at a National Christian College Athletic Association school, according to NCCAA records.

In the 1,000 meters, Nick Stoots led three OC runners, finishing 12th among 36 runners in 2:36.53. Geoffrey Njonjo (17th in 2:39.15) and David Koistinen (22nd in 2:42.56) also represented OC in that event.

OC freshman Ryan Lutterloh won his heat race in the 600 meters and finished 21st in the 52-man field with a time of 1:14.91.

Jamal George (56th in 23.56 seconds) led the Eagles in the 200 meters.

Larry Brown didn’t record a mark in the weight throw and Austin Wallace had the same misfortune in the high jump.
