Matthews, Arrese Cortadellas in top 10, Todd in top 20 at Midwestern

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 18, 2014) – India Matthews and Anna Arrese Cortadellas both were in the top 10 and Dana Todd posted her first career top-20 outing, helping OC to a fourth-place finish in the Midwestern State Invitational, which ended Tuesday.

OC posted a final-round team score of 313 on the 6,129-yard layout at The Champions Course at Weeks Park and finished at 524, 18 shots behind Heartland Conference rival Dallas Baptist (Texas), 11 behind Midwestern State and six behind West Texas A&M.

The Lady Eagles finished ahead of four other Heartland squads in the 17-team field – St. Mary’s (Texas), Arkansas-Fort Smith, Rogers State and Texas A&M International.

With a second straight 4-over-par 76, Matthews closed at 152 to tie for sixth, nine shots behind medalist Glory Jongthongsiri of West Texas A&M. Arrese Cortadellas shot a 78 and finished at 155, tied for 10th – just keeping alive her streak of top-10 finishes, which now is at 23 in as many collegiate tournaments played.

Another 79 by Todd put the freshman from Winnipeg, Canada, at 158 and in 18th place in the 96-woman field. One shot behind Todd, tied for 19th, was OC freshman Allison Sell, who closed with an 80.

OC’s other player in the tournament, Audrey Meisch, shot an 85 and finished tied for 56th at 169.
