WACO, Texas (Aug. 5, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian was picked eighth in the Heartland Conference’s preseason men’s soccer poll, which was released this week by the NCAA Division II league.
The Eagles finished an injury-plagued 2013 campaign with a 4-11-1 overall record and a 2-7 mark in conference play, but they have nine starters returning.
St. Edward’s (Texas) topped the poll of conference coaches and sports information directors, receiving 14 first-place votes and 157 total points.
Lubbock Christian (Texas), which finished atop last season’s regular-season standings, tied for second after receiving the other four first-place votes and 134 points. Texas A&M International also received 134 points.
St. Mary’s (Texas) was fourth with 76 points, followed by Rogers State with 75 points, Dallas Baptist (Texas) with 74 points, Texas-Permian Basin with 67, OC with 59 and Newman (Kan.) with 34.
