MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (March 17, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian’s top doubles duo posted an upset and the Eagles took two singles matches, but No. 10 OC dropped a 6-3 decision on Sunday to No. 4 Barry (Fla.) at Buccaneer Tennis Center.

OC’s Bruno Tiberti and Martin Poboril, ranked eighth in NCAA Division II, edged Barry’s No. 2-ranked duo of Marco Mokrzycki and Fabian Groetsch 9-8 thanks to a 7-5 win in a tiebreaker.

Barry (14-0) won the other two doubles matches, giving the Buccaneers a 2-1 lead over OC (7-2) going into singles play.

The Eagles picked up a pair of singles wins. OC’s Julio Pulido beat Renato Lombardi 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4, while Nicolas Auruccio downed Barry’s Alejandro Andino 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.

Poboril, ranked 33rd, gave No. 16 Groetsch a tough match at No. 2 singles but fell 6-4, 6-4. In the other showdown between ranked players, Barry’s No. 7-ranked Mokrzycki downed No. 41-ranked Tiberto 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

The Eagles, who beat NAIA No. 18 Northwood (Fla.) on Saturday, will face Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) on Monday, St.Thomas (Fla.) on Tuesday and No. 3 Lynn (Fla.) on Thursday.
