MUSKOGEE, Okla. (April 9, 2013) – Three Bacone pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Warriors beat Oklahoma Christian 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Blake Stringer went 2-for-3 for OC, but the Eagles stranded nine baserunners, leaving the bases loaded in the second inning and failing to convert with two runners on and no outs in the seventh inning.

Bacone (29-11), ranked No. 24 in the NAIA, led 3-0 after the fourth inning against OC starter Brock Werdel (3-3), who allowed four hits in 4 1/3 innings of work.

OC (19-17) had a chance to score early, but Cory Eastwood fouled out with the bases loaded in the second to end the threat. The Eagles broke through in the fifth against Bacone starter Eric Aguillard, as Garrett Stephenson walked, went to second on a single by Eastwood and scored on a groundout by Markus Carr.

OC relievers Kelby Reneau and Tyler Schuman held the Warriors at bay over the final 3 2/3 innings, but the Eagles couldn’t take advantage.

In the seventh, Caden Cleveland reached on an infield single and Stephenson reached on an error, giving the Eagles a scoring opportunity. But Eastwood struck out, Jordan Lopez fouled out and Carr flied out against Bacone reliever Alberto Pena.

Another Bacone pitcher, Cody McBride, blanked the Eagles in the ninth to record the save.
