EDMOND, Okla. (March 4, 2013) – At the last minute Monday, three Oklahoma Christian golfers entered the Diffie Ford-Lincoln Invitational at Kickingbird Golf Course as individuals. It turned out to be a pretty good decision.

After the first round, OC seniors Morgan Dockery and Sarah Harper stood first and second, respectively, in the 38-woman field, while junior Catherine Odgers wasn’t far behind, tied for seventh.

Dockery overcame windy conditions and fired a 2-over-par 72 on the 5,821-yard layout, including a strong 33 on the back nine, to take a four-shot lead over Harper.

“It was the best Morgan has played all year,” OC coach Greg Lynn said.

Harper, who posted a 76, and Brittany Marquez of Harding (Ark.), who shot a 77, were the only two players within five shots of Dockery. Odgers shot an 80.

The tournament will wrap up Tuesday.
