Students from 98 high schools and universities across the country competed in the 25th Brass Ring Awards Art and Design Student Competition at Oklahoma Christian University. At the March 26 ceremony, more than 200 Oklahoma students received awards in 40 categories. Oklahoma Christian had 53 students place, followed by Oklahoma State University with 49 and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology with 46. OC and OSUIT tied with 23 first place wins.

OC is hosting an exhibit of work by Edmond artist Jennifer Cocoma Hustis through March 25. Hustis’ oil and acrylic paintings received a positive review by Newsok.com’s John Bradenburg. The exhibit is on display in the OC Art Gallery, which is located in the Garvey Center on OC’s campus. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Political cartoonist Paul Fell’s work will be displayed in OC’s Art+Design Gallery through Feb. 28. Fell lives in Nebraska and his work is seen throughout the country, including in the “Oklahoma Gazette.”

OC’s department of art and design will host professional photographer Jodi Alempijevic Nov. 5. Based in Chicago, Jodi was raised in a small town in Wisconsin, where much of her inspiration comes from. A professional for the last four years, Jodi took up photography by learning from an accomplished professional. She then studied at the Chicago Photography Center, working with some of the city’s best photographers. Jodi now volunteers at the Center as an instructor.
