Deer Creek southpaw Peregrin signs to pitch for Eagles
EDMOND, Okla. (May 29, 2013) – Joe Peregrin, a left-handed pitcher for Deer Creek High School in Edmond, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Lonny Cobble said Wednesday.
Peregrin’s signing helps shore up a key area for the Eagles – left-handed pitching. This past season, OC had only one lefty on its staff, sophomore Kelby Reneau.
“He has really come on in the last year,” Cobble said of Peregrin. “He has a chance to throw hard. Joe works hard and became a force in Deer Creek’s rotation this spring.”
Peregrin went 7-0 with a 2.81 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings for Deer Creek this spring. He threw a no-hitter against Oklahoma Christian School on March 2.
He joins three others in OC’s current class of signees – outfielder Robert Rosser of Denison, Texas, and Grayson (Texas) College and two players from Edmond Memorial High School, shortstop-pitcher Garett Hill and outfielder Jack Hale.
