OKLAHOMA CITY (April 10, 2013) – Alasdair Dalgliesh became the fifth Oklahoma Christian men’s golfer honored with a weekly award this academic year when the Heartland Conference named him Wednesday as its player of the week.
Dalgliesh, a junior from West Sussex, England, led OC to its second tournament win of the spring season, as the Eagles rallied in the final round Tuesday for a four-shot win over host Dallas Baptist (Texas) in the DBU Classic at Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, Texas.
Dalgliesh battled through steady 25-35 mph winds, shooting a pair of 2-under-par 70s on Monday and a 78 on Tuesday on the 6,964-yard course for a third-place individual finish – his best of the spring – in the 86-man tournament.
It was the second conference player-of-the-week award won by Dalgliesh during his career. Last April, he was named as the Sooner Athletic Conference player of the week, and two days later the NAIA named him as its national player of the week.
It’s been an honor-filled academic year for OC golfers. In addition to Dalgliesh, three other OC players – Sam Johnston, Jared Consoli and Vilhelm Bogstrand – have combined to win the Heartland Conference award six times. An OC golfer has won the honor after seven of the Eagles’ nine tournaments in 2012-13.
Johnston, Bogstrand and Logan Herbst have combined to win the National Christian College Athletic Association men’s golf student-athlete of the week honor five times.
