OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 16, 2013) – A top finish in a tournament filled with NCAA Division I golfers earned Oklahoma Christian’s Alasdair Dalgliesh the Heartland Conference player of the week award on Wednesday.
Dalgliesh, a senior from West Sussex, England, tied for medalist honors in the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, which ended Tuesday at Milburn Golf and Country Club in Overland Park, Kan.
OC was the only non-Division I team in the field and finished second by one shot to Central Arkansas. Dalgliesh tied UCA’s James Newton atop the 80-man field, although Newton took home the trophy after winning on the second hole of a playoff.
Dalgliesh finished the tournament at 5-under-par 211 after firing a 3-under 69 in the final round. It was his third career win but the first since his sophomore season.
Wednesday’s conference award was the third for Dalgliesh, who earned Heartland honors once last April and also was a Sooner Athletic Conference player-of-the-week winner once as a sophomore in the spring of 2012.
He became the second OC player to win the Heartland weekly honor this fall, joining Sam Johnston, who was the medalist two weeks ago in the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz.
