Brown receives 3rd NCCAA track and field student-athlete of the week honor
OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 10, 2013) – For the third time in his career, Oklahoma Christian thrower Larry Brown was named Tuesday as the National Christian College Athletic Association’s men’s track and field student-athlete of the week.
The senior from Shelbyville, Ind., received the NCCAA indoor honor after winning the weight throw at the Oklahoma Baptist Indoor-Outdoor Invitational last Wednesday.
Brown had a winning throw of 52 feet, 4½ inches (15.96 meters), good enough to qualify him for the NCCAA Indoor Championships in February. Brown’s winning throw was more than seven feet longer than that of the runner-up in the event.
He previously received the NCCAA indoor student-athlete of the week honor last December and the NCCAA outdoor honor in late April.
Brown and women’s thrower Miranda Ostlund gave OC a sweep of the NCCAA weekly awards for track and field. Ostlund also was honored after her outing at the OBU meet.
