SKILLMAN, N.J. (Nov. 17, 2012) – Oklahoma Christian’s Barbora Bozkova, Angie Torres Quezada and Gabriela Carrillo all earned mention in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II women’s fall national and regional rankings, which were released late Friday.
Bozkova, a junior from Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, was No. 19 in the national singles rankings. She reached the semifinals of the ITA South Central Regional in Abilene, Texas, in September.
Former OC standout Lucie Sipkova, now at California (Pa.), was No. 31 in singles and No. 8 in doubles.
In the national doubles rankings, Bozkova and Torres Quezada, a freshman from Bogota, Colombia, were No. 13. They reached the doubles final in the South Central Regional.
In the South Central Region rankings, Bozkova was No. 2 in singles behind Julia Mongin of Abilene Christian (Texas), who defeated Bozkova in three sets in the regional semifinals. Carrillo, a sophomore from Riobamba, Ecuador, was No. 15. In the regional doubles rankings, Bozkova and Torres Quezada were second.
OC and two other former NAIA powers making the move into Division II, Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and Fresno Pacific (Calif.), were not included in the fall team national or regional rankings but will be eligible for consideration once spring competition begins, the ITA said.
