OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 11, 2013) – For the third straight year, Oklahoma Christian’s women’s basketball program will hold a diaper drive for a local adoption and foster care agency.
The “Dunks for Diapers” event before the Lady Eagles’ game on Saturday against Lubbock Christian (Texas) will benefit Lilyfield Christian Adoption and Foster Care, formerly known as Christian Services of Oklahoma.
Anyone bringing diapers, wipes or new baby items for babies ages birth to 24 months will receive free admission to the game at the Eagles’ Nest. OC coach Stephanie Findley is coordinating the drive.
Representatives from Lilyfield will be located at a table in the gym lobby during the game to provide more information about their agency.
“This will allow us to give foster families much-needed necessities when they receive placement of a foster child,” said Holly Towers, Lilyfield’s executive director. “Often placements happen with little notice and the child may come into a foster home with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.”
Part of the diaper drive will include a competition among OC’s social service clubs. The club whose members donate the most items will win a cash prize.
