Music Department Presents Opera Scenes

  • April 01, 2015

The Department of Music invites you to our annual Opera Scenes this Friday or Saturday, April 3-4, in Adams Recital Hall at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Scenes have been chosen this year from the Pierre Beaumarchais “Figaro” trilogy, a set of 3 plays written in the latter part of the 18th century that are often characterized as foreshadowing the French Revolution.

OC students will present highlights from these 3 operas: Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, and Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles, under the direction of OC alumna and adjunct teacher of voice, Laura Rucker Coale, who will narrate the exploits of these characters on their journey through the trilogy.
