OC's Great Songs Chapel concludes with a top-10 countdown
OC’s Great Songs Chapel gives attendees the chance to sing some of the greatest worship songs that have stood the test of time. With songs dating back hundreds of years, Great Songs is a unique worship experience for those attending each Friday during the year. The chapel attracts students because it is based on singing classic worship songs many students did not grow up singing.
OC Associate Professor of Computer Engineering Pat Smith enjoys leading students in this worship experience.
“It’s one of the high points of my week,” said Smith. “The songs are beautiful and rich, and singing them with others gives me deep joy.”
Great Songs recently sent out a survey for students to fill out with their five favorite songs. The answers were used to create a top-10 list that was sung during the last two Great Songs Chapels of the spring. The countdown attracted even more students who wanted to find out the top choices. This year’s top song on the countdown was “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Other songs on the countdown were “I’ll Fly Away,” “Our God, He is Alive” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Below is a recording of a verse of "I'll Fly Away" during the countdown.
