Sponsored by the College of Business Administration, OC’s Accounting/Finance Club meets several times each semester to involve accounting majors in greater leadership roles on campus, schedule guest speakers, and provide resources to accounting faculty. For more information, contact Dr. Daniel Sorenson.
American Marketing Association
OC’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) was officially chartered in 2008 and has become a very successful organization in a short time. The chapter has received national recognition at the AMA Collegiate Conference in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017, being selected from 140+ schools for demonstrating excellence in membership, community service, chapter planning, and reporting. The conference is hosted by AMA International, the parent organization for collegiate chapters. Membership in the AMA brings many benefits to students, such as the chance to network with marketing professionals who speak on campus at chapter meetings, the opportunity to develop leadership skills through officer positions or committee leadership, and membership in Oklahoma City’s AMA chapter. For more information, go to www.amaoc.com or contact faculty advisor Dr. Kerianne Roper.
Delta Mu Delta
Delta Mu Delta is the National Business Honor Society at Oklahoma Christian University. This organization is headed by Professor of Accounting Dr. Mickey Cowan. Students chosen for Delta Mu Delta are upperclassmen representing the top 20% of their class. When students are chosen for Delta Mu Delta, they become members for life.
OC Ethics Team
The College of Business Administration sponsors the OC Ethics Team. During competitions, teams are asked to present their views of what would be the most ethical response to a real-world case. Example cases include: what prices should pharmaceutical companies charge for their product in developing countries; whether or not a bakery should be able to decline services based on religious belief; or what are acceptable salaries for CEOs. OC’s team has won five straight Oklahoma state championships; consistently placed in the top three at the Texas Regional Ethics Bowl; and placed among the nation’s top 10 teams most every year.
The College of Business Administration helps sponsor many different internship programs for all majors in the field of business. Internships are available in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and sports management to improve students’ academic knowledge and hands-on experience. Internships are sponsored by Baker Group, BKD, Devon Energy Corporation, the Economic Development Authority, Funnel Design Group, Grant Thornton, the Oklahoma City Thunder, VI Marketing and Branding, Baker Group, BKD, and more.
