American Marketing Association
The OC chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) was officially chartered in 2008 and has become a very successful organization in a short time. The OC AMA has received national recognition at the AMA Collegiate Conference in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017, being selected from 140+ schools for demonstrating excellence in membership, community service, chapter planning, and reporting. The conference is hosted by AMA International, the parent organization for collegiate chapters. Membership in the AMA brings many benefits to students, such as the chance to network with marketing professionals who speak on campus at chapter meetings, the opportunity to develop leadership skills through officer positions or committee leadership, and membership in Oklahoma City’s AMA chapter. Delta Mu Delta
Delta Mu Delta is the National Business Honor Society at Oklahoma Christian University. This organization is headed by Professor of Accounting Dr. Mickey Cowan. Students chosen for Delta Mu Delta are upperclassmen representing the top 20% of their class. When students are chosen for Delta Mu Delta, they become members for life.
OC Business Ethics Team
The College of Business Administration sponsors the OC Business Ethics Debate team . DUring competitions, teams are asked to present their views of what would be the most ethical response to a real-world case. Example cases include: what prices should pharmaceutical companies charge for their product in developing countries; whether or not a bakery should be able to decline to make a wedding cake for a gay couple based upon religious belief; or what is an acceptable salary for CEOs. Recently, the OC team has had much success often winning the Oklahoma state competition; consistent;y placing in the top 3 of the Texas Regional Ethics Bowl; and placing in the top ten teams in the national tournament several times.
Internships in the College of Business Administration
The College of Business Administration assists in the sponsoring of many different internship programs for all majors in the field of business. Internships are available in accounting, finance, management, and marketing to improve the academic knowledge and hands-on experience of all students. Internships are sponsored by Devon Energy Corporation, the Economic Development Authority, Funnel Design Group, Grant Thornton, VI Marketing and Branding, Baker Group, BKD, and more.
