Department of Communication

Overview

Oklahoma Christian University prepares students to become knowledgeable and contributing citizens who glorify God through lives of faith, scholarship and service.  To accomplish this mission, the university is committed to educating students from a foundation of Christian faith to think, act and communicate in a complex, demanding, and changing global community. The Department of Communication actively contributes to this mission through a myriad of discrete disciplines.

In its classes, performances, fraternal organizations, professional clubs and student media, the Department of Communication works through:

  • Words to honor the One who called himself the Word;
  • Stories to be like the Master Teacher who scarcely taught without a parable;
  • Images to remind the world of a God who made man in his own image;
  • Speech to access its power like the One who scrambled speech at the Tower of Babel and brought it back together again at Pentecost; and
  • Drama to be like God who chose to ransom the world through the Passion of the cross.

As a result, OC Communication students and faculty think critically, communicate effectively, and serve their communities willingly - all within a framework of faith.
