Parking Regulations

Vehicle Registration

All new and returning students must register their motorized vehicles online on entrance to Campus; and then register each year thereafter by Fall semester in order to park and drive on OC Campus.  Yearly registration is required for Campus Police to verify the student's vehicle is authorized to be on OC Campus for that year.  Fall vehicle registration begins May 1st after graduation.  Online registration is now free and available year round.
If you use a different vehicle after school starts, get a new windshield, get a new or specialized tag, or need a different color decal, you will need to again register online immediately for a new vehicle decal.  There is no charge for registering or obtaining a vehicle decal.  To register your vehicle, follow these directions:
Go to your MyOC.edu website, search 'Vehicle Registration', log in and register your vehicle.  
 
The following items are required to register online for all persons operating a motorized vehicle on university property for verification and authorization to drive and park on OC campus.  Remember to bring these with you when you pick up your vehicle decal:
  1. OC Student ID.
  2. Current driver's license.
  3. Vehicle license plate number.
  4. Current liability insurance and name of insurance agent.

Only during the summer, watch for student announcements when vehicle decals may be picked up after you have registered. Once registered after school begins, vehicle decals may be picked up the following day from 9 - 11 am and 1 - 4 pm, MON, WED, THU, and FRI.

Decal should be affixed on upper driver side, left front windshield of your vehicle (do not block your view looking left and do not place in tint area of your windshield).  For motorcycles: Decals should be affixed on the left fork.  Parking and driving privileges are authorized by academic classification:  Freshman and Sophomores (Blue decal), Juniors and Seniors (Maroon decal), Graduates (Gray decal).

NOTE: OC vehicle decal stickers are not transferable or reusable.

Registration is NOT complete until vehicle decal sticker is permanently and correctly placed on the assigned vehicle's windshield.

Parking and Driving Regulations

Any person operating a vehicle is responsible for the control and safe operation of that vehicle and observance of traffic control signals, barriers and devices. All vehicles parked on campus should be secured against theft or burglary.  Oklahoma Christian University assumes no responsibility for the protection of vehicles or property left within vehicles.

Parking on Campus regulations/privileges apply during school days (listed below) from 7am to 5pm, MON-FRI.

Freshman and Sophomore students are required to keep their vehicles in the dorm/apartment parking lots.

Freshman and sophomore commuters may park in parking lots: W. of Enterprise Square and S. of Garvey Center, W. and S. of Gaylord University Student Center, and the triangle lot on the N. side of campus by the soccer fields.

Juniors, Seniors, Graduate students may only park in student parking lots marked with 'yellow lines' listed below:

A. Parking lot N. of Mabee Learning Center (the far North half).
B. Parking lot S. and W. of Hardeman Auditorium.
C. Parking spaces on W. side of Thelma Gaylord Forum only (next to Student Center), marked JR/SR parking.
D. Parking lot E. of Harvey Business Center.
E. Parking lot W. of Enterprise Square.
F. Parking lot N. of Prince Engineering Center and Herold Science Hall.
G. Parking lot S. of Williams-Branch Biblical Studies Center.

Students must not park in 'White Lines', visitor parking, or faculty/staff parking (from 700 am -  500 pm, MON-FRI). 
Visitor parking is located on North and East side of Thelma Gaylord Forum on Wilson Way and West side of Hardeman Auditorium.  There are no appeals for unauthorized parking in Handicap and parking in Firelanes.

Campus Police and Safety will additionally issue tickets to students who park in "Reserved" parking (yellow curbs), including RD/RA spaces, faculty/staff parking (white lines), visitor parking, handicapped parking without permits (blue curbs), fire zones (red curbs), on the curb in the Forum, in the circle drive at Hardeman Auditorium and the Gaylord University Center, on sidewalks or grass areas, campus roads and loading zones.

Faculty/Staff/Authorized Vendors working on Campus must register in person.  Park in the following 'white lines':

  • Parking lot N. of Mabee Learning Center.
  • Parking lot N. of Prince Engineering Center and Herold Science Hall.
  • Parking lot E. of Judd Theatre and west of Hardeman Auditorium.
  • Parking lot S. of Williams-Branch Biblical Studies Center.
  • Parking lot E. of Heritage Plaza Business Building.

Speed Limit on Campus:  Parking lot speed limit is 10 mph.  Driving on campus streets speed limit is 25 mph.

Driving Regulations on Campus streets:  Applies the same as Oklahoma State Driving Laws.

Motorized vehicles on Sidewalks:  With the exception of motorized handicapped wheelchairs/scooters, no other motorized vehicles are authorized on OC sidewalks. 

Enforcement

WITHIN 7 DAYS OF CITATION DATE, all fines are to be paid to the Cashier in Heritage Plaza Business Office, 13800 Benson Road, or it will be added to student's account after that time.

The University reserves the right to revoke driving privileges with cases of repeated violations, reckless driving or unwarranted disregard of vehicle rules and regulations, damaging property or any act detrimental to the safety or best interests of the University community.

Appeals

Appeals should first be made in person to the Director of University Services, WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER CITED VIOLATION DATE, along with providing student's copy of the vehicle ticket, to the Campus Police Department Administrative Office, at Heritage Village building (SE corner of campus), 2801 E. Memorial Rd., Ste.101.  Appeal hours are 9am - 4pm, MON - FRI, closed for lunch from 12pm - 1pm.  Office phone is (405) 425-5503.
